Blanton Museum of Art
Austin experiences art at the new Blanton!

The Blanton Museum of Art at the University of Texas at Austin is one of the foremost university art museums in the country with the largest and most comprehensive collection of art in Central Texas. The museum welcomes and engages all visitors by offering personal, extraordinary experiences that connect art and ideas, reaching within and beyond the University of Texas campus to stimulate the thriving, creative community that is Austin, and beyond. The Blanton's permanent collection of more than 17,000 works is recognized for its European paintings, Modern and Contemporary American and Latin American art, and an encyclopedic collection of prints and drawings.

Coupled with the celebrated Mari and James A. Michener Gallery Building, the new Smith Building marks the completion of the Blanton complex, making it the largest university museum in the United States. The Smith Building houses a number of visitor amenities including a full-service café; an expanded museum shop; a state-of-the-art auditorium; and three classrooms for educational and hands–on activities.

Highlights of the Blanton's public programs include B scene, a theme-inspired art party featuring live music, free food, and cash bar held the first Friday of every month from 6-11 p.m. For those seeking escape from everyday pressures, the Blanton presents Third Thursday, a free monthly event featuring art activities, yoga in the galleries, book club meetings, and Art Brief Tours. On the third Thursday of each month, the Blanton extends it hours and remains open to the public until 9PM.
